| D.H.ロレンスの長編小説既, Women in Loveでは, 登場する三人の女がまとった色彩ゆたかな衣装と, 小説の最終部の舞台となったチロルアルプスの白一色の氷と雪の世界が対比的に描写されている.本稿では, 衣装は登場人物の意識の表層を表すペルソナであり, それに対して永遠に凍結した雪の世界は, 彼らの無意識の領域に潜む空虚・無・死を啓示する心象であると促え, それが作品においていかに具体化されているかを考察した.その結果, それが登場人物の個人的な無意識を超えて, 産業中心の機械化された現代社会の<死の過程>を表す心象として独自の意味が附与されていることが明らかとなった. | ||||||||

| In D.H. Lawrence's Women in Love, the contrast between the colourful dresses of three characters -Gudrun, Ursula, Hermione- and the high Tyrolese Valley with white snow is very impressive. The dresses of three women may be regarded as their own <persana> in a psychological sense of the word, and the world covered with perpetual snow as an image revealing the unconscious of the characters. In this thesis we're going to study how successfully they are embodied in the novel and to point out that they also reveal the depth of the uncosciousness of modern people in the mechanized industrial world. | ||||||||
