Lawrence's Women in Love, the contrast between the colourful dresses of three characters -Gudrun, Ursula, Hermione- and the high Tyrolese Valley with white snow is very impressive. The dresses of three women may be regarded as their own <persana> in a psychological sense of the word, and the world covered with perpetual snow as an image revealing the unconscious of the characters.
