本研究は,緩和ケア病棟の看護師97名,一般病棟の看護師248名,一般の人429名,大学生244名,合計1,018名を対象とし,スピリチュアリティという言葉のイメージを明らかにすること,また4つのグループ別に認知の有無と,イメージの特徴を明らかにすることを目的とし,質問紙調査を行った.スピリチュアリティという言葉を認知している人は全体で421名(41.4%),緩和ケア病棟の看護師が83名(85.6%),一般病棟の看護師が136名(54.8%),一般の人が92名(21.4%),大学生が110名(45.1%)であり,スピリチュアリティという言葉は未だ一般の人に認められた言葉ではないことが示された.得られたイメージを内容の類似性で整理した結果,【超越的】【内的自己】【人間存在】【死生観】【ビリーフ】【Well-BeingとPain】【他者や環境】の7コアカテゴリーが抽出された.その内容からスピリチュアリティは幅広いイメージを与え,主観的で抽象的であることが確認できた.またこれらは既存の学術的概念と類似していた.カテゴリーに分類されなかった「その他」には〈マスメディア〉〈超常現象〉〈否定的イメージ〉が含まれ,スピリチュアリティをスピリチュアルブームという大衆文化の中でとらえている人がいることが明らかになった.7コアカテゴリーは4グループすべてで抽出され,その中でも【超越的】と【内的自己】が共通して最も多かった.緩和ケア病棟の看護師はスピリチュアリティに幅広い,多くのイメージを持っていた.また一般病棟の看護師の約1割と大学生の約2割が〈マスメディア〉をイメージしていた.一般の人の【他者や環境】のイメージは,日本人の中・高齢者の特徴と考えられた. |

We conducted a questionnaire survey in this study to clarify images of the word "spirituality" and to identify its perception status and the characteristics of the images in each of 4 subject groups by targeting a total of 1,018 subjects comprised of 97 nurses on palliative-care wards, 248 nurses on general wards, 429 general citizens and 244 university students. A total of 421 (41.4%) perceived the word, including among those, by group, 83 nurses on palliative-care wards (85.6%), 136 nurses on general wards (54.8%), 92 general citizens (21.4%), and 110 university students (45.1%). The images of the word obtained were organized into 7 core categories based on the similarity of their content: "transcendental," "internal self," "human existence," "attitudes toward life and death," "belief," "well-being and pain," and "others and environment." The 7 core categories were derived from all 4 groups. The variety of these categories confirmed that spirituality was a subjective and abstract concept, inspiring a broad range of images. The above core categories proved similar to existing scientific concepts. "Mass media," "supernatural phenomenon" and "negative image" were not classified into the categories. Over ten percent of nurses on general wards and about twenty percent of university students suggested "mass media." |
