本研究では，青年期後期の孫に対する祖父母の機能，現在の祖父母と孫の関係，孫の抱く祖父母イメージの相互関係について検討した．調査対象者は大学2年生の男女であり，有効回答者は158名（男子39名，女子119名）であった．回答者は，自身にとって最も関わりの深い，あるいは深かったと感じる1名の祖父または祖母を挙げ，その人と自分との関係についての質問に答えるよう求められた．典型的に挙げられた祖父母は，「父方または母方の，別居で存命の祖母」であった．使用した各尺度の因子構造を確認のうえ，下位尺度ごとの因子得点を算出した．これらの得点と回答者あるいは祖父母の属性との有意な関係はほとんど認められなかった．相関分析の結果，変数間に有意な関連性が数多く認められた．「気疲れ」が少なく「関与」の多い関係ほど，祖父母の機能が良好であると評価されていた．また，祖父母のイメージは，導きや気遣いの機能がよく発揮されている祖父母において，および「気疲れ」や「葛藤」の少ない関係性において，より良好であった．これらの結果は，青年期の孫において，祖父母の機能，祖父母との現在の関係性，祖父母に対するイメージが相互に関連していることを示す．どのような関係性の祖父母によってどのような機能が発揮されるか，また，どのような関係性や機能を果たす祖父母に対して良好なイメージをもつのか，という点から解釈ができると考えられる． |

This study examined correlations among three scales, i.e., grandparents’functions on late adolescent grandchildren, the current relationships between grandparents and grandchildren, and the images of grandparents held by grandchildren. Participants were second-year university students (N = 158, 39 men and 119 women). They were asked to choose one grandfather or grandmother who is or had been closest to them and respond to questions about their relationship with that grandparent. The typically nominated grandparent was a maternal or paternal grandmother who was alive but not living together. After the factor structure of each scale was confirmed, factor scores of the subscales of each scale were calculated. Correlational analyses showed many significant associations among them. Late adolescent university students considered less tiring and more committed relationships as well-functioning. Moreover, more guiding and caring grandparents had more positive images, whereas grandparents with tiring or conflictive relationships had less positive images. These results suggest substantial interrelationships among the functions of grandparents, the quality of the present relationship, and images of grandparents held by late-adolescent grandchildren. These results were interpreted from the perspective of relational characteristics of grandparents’function and how they influence images of grandparents held by their grandchildren. |
