総社市の中山間地域の富山地域を対象に,在宅高齢者の健康寿命を支える地域の保健福祉支援の基盤づくりのための基礎的な調査を実施した.この調査活動の目的は,(1)この地域に住む独居,夫婦世帯の高齢者の健康意識と生活者としての意識を明らかする.(2)在宅高齢者の健康生活を支える支援の方略を考えることである. 79名の聞き取り調査の結果,86.1%の高齢者は自分の住む地域はすばらしいと思い,同時に,92.6%は生活するには不便と感じていた.そして,地域を守る後継者の不在と生活を守る支援者の不在を指摘した.また,健康であることがこの地区に住むための条件と考え,生き方として「人間関係」を大切にし,「自律した生きかた」や「健康に生きる」,「地域を守る生きかた」が重要と考えていた. 在宅高齢者の健康生活を支える支援については,自助としては「住民相互の支え」「家族相互の支え」,公助としては「ホームヘルプ支援」「保健医療支援」「健康づくり支援」,交通手段や道路整備などの「不便さへの支援」のニーズが高かった.また健康寿命の延長には健康意識を高め,高齢者自らの参画を考慮に入れた地域支援の体制づくりが大切であると提言した. |

A preliminary survey was carried out in the Tomiyama area of Soja City, a typical semi-mountainous, depopulated region in preparation for a regional health welfare system supporting a healthier life expectancy for older adults. The purposes were 1) to clarify their perception of a healthy life and way of living for single or married older residents living in the Chusankan region, and 2) to identify strategies for supporting a healthier life. Interviews with 79 elderly people revealed that 86.1% of them were satisfied with living in their own region, while 92.6% had some inconveniences while living there. They also pointed to few or no heirs living in the same community and/or the absence of those who could support them. Moreover, they valued health above all else, and perceived the following ways of living as essential for their being independent in the community : "Interpersonal Relationships, " "Autonomy, " "Having a Healthy Lifestyle, " and "Community-Orientedness. " The types of support older residents would like to receive for maintaining their health were classified into two : informal support, such as family support and mutual support among residents, and formal support, such as home help services, health care services, health promotion programs, and transportation services. It was suggested that an extension of a healthier life expectancy may depend on raising an awareness of their self-related health status and creating a community support system with a participatory approach involving the older adults in the community. |
