| 重度の痴呆を有する高齢者に対し12回にわたり調理活動を実施し, その状況をできるだけ具体的に記録した.観察においては, チェックリストを用いた評価も行った.調理活動の回数が増えるにつれてチェックリストの合計点数は上昇した.対象者は, 口頭指示がなければ作業に着手できなかったが, 作業内容を指示すれば「切る」「炒める」など一つ一つの作業は可能であった.これは, 一つ一つの作業の手続き記憶が保たれていたためと考える.重度痴呆高齢者を対象とする場合には, 手続き記憶を喚起する作業の中でも内容の単純なもの, 経験が多くなじみのあるものが取り組みやすく, 集中力も持続すると考える.調理活動は, 手続き記憶を喚起し, なじみの場所でなじみの人間関係を形成することによって精神的な安定をもたらすという点で, 痴呆に対する作業療法として有効であると考える. | ||||||||||

| The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of the cooking activities of people with severe senile dementia. Cooking activities were observed carefully and evaluated on a checklist. The total points accumulated on the checklist increased with the number repetitions of the cooking activity. They couldn't begin each step of the cooking activity without verbal cues. But, they were able to do each step with verbal cues. This presumably indicates that their procedural memory was intact . People with severe senile dementia can easily start simple and familiar activities, and their concentration can be focused. Cooking activities are effective in Occupational Therapy for people with senile dementia, because their procedural memory is stimulated and their mental functions are more focused in an environment with a familiar location, activity, and friends. | ||||||||||
