| 病気の概念は医学的治療を促す働きをする規範力がある.しかし, それは実体的概念ではない.その現実性は病人の存在からくる現実性である.価値や規範は実在的であるが, その実在性は, われわれがそのなかに価値や規範を認めるできごとの現実に依っている.すなわち, われわれの行動規範や価値評価基準は, パラダイムとしてのできごと(あるいは, モデル・ケース)の現実によってその実在性を得るのだといえる. | ||||||||

| The concept of illness works as a normative guide which introduces us to the cure and care of the sick. But illness is not a substance as individual things are. The substantials are the reality of individual persons. Values and norms appear as real, not because of their own reality but because of the reality of things in which we conceive them. An evaluative or normative principle guiding us on how to conduct or evaluate things cannot absolutely exclude a paradigm case of things (at least, a model case) which provides us a reality of values and norms. The ethical issues as 'brain death' or the care of terminally ill persons can be paradigm cases, which force us to face a novel norm of our daily life. | ||||||||
