Parameters studied included sitting pressure distributions in stationary sitting positions, postural change indices in prolonged sitting positions, and physical motion activities using the Actigraph, which measures the amount of physical activity based on accelerations along 3 axes. Ordinary-type wheelchairs and office chairs adjustable to postural change were utilized, and differences in sitting environments were evaluated. The results indicated that postural change activities did not significantly vary, although there were minor variations. However, office chairs had lower values of maximum sitting pressures than wheelchairs.
