In recent years, new functions and roles for libraries have emerged with the development of ICT. This study discusses how the university’s library functions should respond to information literacy education through the development of ICT functions. Two university libraries were visited and selected as advanced examples. Specific measures for information literacy education and learning commons at our university library were introduced. The increase in electronic content has made it possible to receive knowledge without necessarily borrowing books. It was considered that the knowledge of books becomes the knowledge of readers.
