To this end, we first reported on the practice of the Department of Medical Care and Childcare at Kawasaki College of Allied Health Professions for 12 years. Next, we reported on the 7-year practice of the Department of Child Medical Care and Welfare at Kawasaki University of Medical Welfare, which aims to “support families starting from pregnancy and support for all children” by adding national qualifications of mental health care workers to nursery school teachers and kindergarten teachers. We then explained the theoretical background of the practices of the college and the university. Specifically, the following six areas were discussed: 1) life course theory (diversity) and life stage theory, 2) medical childcare area, 3) the concept of Neuvola, 4) the relationship between social work and care work, 5) the relationship between generic social work and specific social work, and 6) the generalist social work perspective.
