However, when the feudal lord falls into critical condition, skilled doctors were occasionally summoned from Edo or outside the region. The Ikeda-clan’s historical records provide information on the illnesses and treatments of feudal lords, providing insight into the quality of rural healthcare as well as the spread of medical knowledge and technology.
