In addition, the purpose of the volunteer groups, wherein basic activities are primarily conducted by older people, is to spread awareness of the need to prevent dementia in the elderly and fellow volunteers. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to examine the content of volunteer training courses in accordance with surveys so as to develop dementia prevention activities in which volunteers can engage easily. A free-form questionnaire survey was completed by 29 volunteers. Approximately 80% of the trainees were people aged 65 years and older. The results revealed it was imperative to develop training courses to meet older aged volunteers’needs. In addition, four categories of utilization needs of the course emerged: utilization for current volunteer activities, motivation for new activities, utilization for oneself and acquaintances, and enthusiasm. The four categories may be understood from the two axes on the graph which show the trainees’practical experience and direction of interest, that is, societal and individual.
