In this paper, the analysis was based on two points: actual situation of new inpatients with SMID (SMID: severe motor and intellectual disabilities), and the actual situation of discharged patients with SMID. As a result, the totals from the 6 facilities were 184 new inpatients with SMID, and 119 discharged patients with SMID. The highest percentage among new inpatients with SMID was 32 (17.4%) of patients“0-2 years old”, and among discharged patients with SMID 14 (11.8%) of patients“3-5 years old”. In addition, it became clear that the reasons for upon admission and discharge differ depending on the age. This finding indicates new inpatients with SMID need not only care but also support for their family.
