As neonatal intensive care highly progressed, the number of technology- dependent children in Japan has doubled in the past 10 years, and is estimated as 20,000. Children without intellectual disabilities and who can move by themselves hope to enter general nursery school and kindergarten rather than special needs facilities, however there is shortage of nurses at these facilities in Japan. We conducted case studies in 2 nursery schools which accommodate technology-dependent children. Technology-dependent children in our study had shown development in general nursery schools. In both cases, the children require full- time attention for respiratory administration, and the nursery school must keep 2 nurses on staff. Some teachers felt frustration to make an inclusive childcare plan as it was hard to balance the individuals and the whole class. The parents were satisfied with the care at the nursery schools for their children as well as having their own time for work and rest. However, parents also have some concerns such as the continuity of the medical care in the future and the conflict between physical rehabilitation and socialization at nursery school in childhood.
