An anonymous, self-administered questionnaire of oncology nurses with at least one year of experience was carried out in 5 facilities. Responses were obtained from 332 nurses and analysis was performed through simple tabulation and χ2 test. More than 80% of nurses thought that it was part of their role to provide support regarding employment to oncology patients. Of the respondents, 12% of nurses provided employment support to patients. The types of support which nurses provided include, in ascending order of importance,“listening,”“cooperation/ introduction,”“information gathering,”and“advice.”The feeling that“employment as a cancer patient is a social issue”was identified by 35.5% of nurses.
