The survey inquired about basic attributes, and also included 40 question items developed based on previous studies on visiting nurses’caring behaviors. The survey was conducted with visiting nurses (N=1,410) enrolled in visiting nursing stations (N=470) that were randomly extracted from 47 prefectures. Three nurses were selected from each nursing station, and those without missing values were analyzed (N=497). The results of exploratory factor analysis indicated the following six factors comprising 32 items:“Building relationships,”“Bringing out abilities to provide medical treatment,”“Sharing positive emotions,”“Maintaining the past life,”“Relieving the feelings,”and“Intervening by considering the peace of mind.”Cronbach’s alpha of the complete scale was 0.967, which indicated the sufficient internal consistency of the scale. The goodness fit of the six-factor-secondary-factor model to the data was examined based on the above results by using Structural Equation Modeling, which indicated that the goodness of fit indices reached statistically acceptable levels.
