Methods: Data were collected from reports on the perceptions of cancer and cancer patients submitted by 45 nursing students before and after lectures on cancer nursing and clinical practice opportunities. The contents describing perceptions were extracted, encoded, and categorized. Results: As perceptions of cancer, [uncomfortable], [insurmountable], [various form of pain], and [hope] were extracted before the aforementioned lectures and clinical practice, while [living together] and [not special] were extracted afterwards. As perceptions of cancer patients, [suffering various forms of pain], [unable to lead the same life as before], and [struggling to live] were extracted before the lectures and practical experiences, while [supported by surrounding people], [leading life in their own way], and [knowing something important] were extracted afterwards.
