However, previous research focused mainly on perceived support as its availability. This study dealt with enacted support as its actual reception as well as perceived support. Two surveys with one month interval were conducted to the same group of university students. In the first survey, participants responded to the scales of social skill, self-disclosure to parents and to close friends, perceived support from parents and from close friends, and loneliness. Path analysis showed that social skill had the indirect relations with perceived support through self-disclosure in each of the relationship with parents and with close friends and that perceived support from close friends decreased loneliness. In the second survey, enacted support by parents and by close friends in the past one week, loneliness, and depresson were measured. Path analysis showed that perceived support in the first survey had the effect on enacted support by each relationship and that enacted support by close friends decreased loneliness and depression in the second survey.
