The statistical analyses yielded two main findings. Firstly, the scores given by mothers were higher than those given by the professionals in 13 out of the 14 items tested. The mothers scores can be taken as representing a maximum value. Furthermore, the scores given by psychologists varied widely in comparison with the variance in the scores given by nurses and mothers. Secondly, public health nurses assessed by observation of the children's behavior, whereas psychologists used different assessment methods based on the nature of the item under assessment. These results suggest that there was a significant difference in how mothers and professionals viewed the content of each assessment item.
