Buffers used were a 20 mM sodium tetraborate buffer with 15 mM β-cyclodextrin for CZE and the same buffer containing 50 mM sodium dodecyl sulfate as an ionic surfactant for MEKC. Analytical conditions were as follows : A fused-silica capillary 75 μm I.D.×50 cm length was used. The temperature was set at 25℃ and a constant voltage of 15 kV was applied.The injection volume was ca. 24 nL and the UV detector was set at a wavelength of 273 nm. This procedure was used to determine TTCA concentrations in urine samples obtained from subjects who had ingested 100 grams of raw cabbage or 200 grams of boiled broccoli with breakfast. Urine samples were collected eight hours after intake of the Brassica vegetables. TTCA in the urine samples were extracted with diethyl ether.The MEKC method showed a good correlation with the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method for determining TTCA concentratins in the same urine samples.
