K大学の水泳実習における参加学生の疲労状況を把握することによって, 能力別グループ編成のあり方について検討することであった.実習前, 実習中の自覚疲労症状訴え者数は, 前日82%, 1日目84%, 2日目77%, 3日目75%, 4日目45%と増加しなかった.そこで自覚疲労症状訴え総数の多かった11名(高疲労グループ)と, 自覚疲労症状訴えなし11名(低疲労グループ)を抽出しさらに検討を行った.その結果, 高疲労グループにおける男女比は4 : 7で女性が多く, 低疲労グループでは, 9 : 2と男性が多かった.また, 泳力別で比較すると高疲労グループには泳力の低い学生が集中し, 低疲労グループには泳力の高い者が集中していた.しかし, 最大酸素摂取量, 400m平泳ぎの記録ともに, 高疲労グループと低疲労グループで, 有意な差はみられなかった.疲労の度合いを配慮した水泳実習のグループ編成には, 最大酸素摂取量, 400m平泳ぎの記録といった身体能力指標を用いるだけでなく,
