The results were as follows 1. The mother's working pattern of women university students took the form of an M-shaped curve that is a characteristic of Japanese women's working pattern when statistics of female labor force are graphed out by age and class. 2. 90% of women students agreed with \"SANSAIJISINWA\" (that is, the myth that mothers who don't have a job should stay at home and bring up their children by the age of three), but the more students whose mothers were fulltime workers rejected this myth than those whose mothers were housewives or self-employed. 3. 80% of the women students denied the idea of dividing roles by gender, but fewer students whose mothers were housewives or self-employed rejected this idea than those whose mothers were fulltime employees. 4. The number of women students who supported the idea that a mother should have a job and the number of those who opposed was almost the same. But more students whose mothers worked fulltime supported that idea. 5. There was a gap between the ideal life plan and the realistic life plan of women university students who wanted to work after childbirth.
